Purpose of Assignment

The purpose of this assignment is to introduce the student to the major underlying determinants of poor health and their effect on the health of populations worldwide. The student will utilize these principles to create an informational website for the country of their choice.

Student Approach to Assignment

For this assignment I chose the country France, and I created a website showcasing the determinants of health and their effects on the French population. The topics discussed in my web country include health indicators, economic status and poverty, health systems, culture and health, and health factors and diseases. My web country also includes a variety of images and charts to allow viewers to visualize the effects of the major determinants of health in France

Reason for Inclusion of this Assignment in the Portfolio

This assignment is included in my nursing portfolio because it demonstrates my understanding of how health is viewed differently across the world. This assignment opened my eyes to the importance of culture in relation to health. As a nurse I will be taking care of patients who have different perspectives on health depending on their culture, religion, and country of origin so it is important for me to understand the differences in health at the global level.
